Arizona is one of the newest states in the gambling game after legalised sports wagering was launched on 9 September, the first day of the NFL season. The Arizona Department of Gaming won’t share the first sports wagering reports and statistics until mid-November; however, Cardinals owner, Michael Bidwill, said gamblers have showed strong interest in betting on games since the opening day.
Bidwill commented: “There were some early news reports that the sportsbook would be built inside the stadium but it’s actually outside of it, easily accessible to fans and sports bettors 365 days a year.”
He stated that Cardinals-licensed sportsbooks are planned to be established at three tribal casinos in Chandler and Laveen Village, Arizona and will be operated by the Gila River Indians.
Bidwill added that the Cardinals are the last of the NFL’s undefeated teams this year and the fanbase has embraced the team at a time when supporters can bet on them as well.
The Cardinals owner also stated the importance of “getting sports betting right,” as Arizona casinos go from aggressively advertising their new products with television ads to emphasising responsible gaming and not supporting any illegal underage betting.
