The affected staff was transferred to new positions, and the remaining bettors who still utilised the tele-service were urged to contact the company to transfer their accounts and data to the digital space.
Telephone betting makes up a very small percentage of revenue even for companies that still maintain the service. GVC Holdings’ brand still offers the service, but the last time earnings were reported was several years ago and it amounted to £2.7 million out of £662m million.
The digital services Bet365 offers more than makes up for the loss of tele-betting. The marketing researching platform SEMrush reported the company attracts the highest number of UK punters. Bet365 reported 20.9 million visits in April from UK customers, with SkyBet coming in second with 16 million visits. And the company’s influence extends beyond the UK – Bet365 is the most visited site in Brazil, outpacing the closest competitor Sportingbet.
