Flutter, the operator that owns a number of brands, including Sky Betting & Gaming, Paddy Power and Betfair, has released insights into customer betting during the Women’s World Cup.

After a tense semi-final against Australia, the England team achieved a 3-1 victory to progress into the finals.

The Women’s World Cup Final is set to take place between Spain and England on 20 August and will be played in the Stadium Australia, Sydney.

As to be expected, the Lionesses have found a lot of support from bettors in the UK, with 80% of customers in the country backing the England team in the final.

Specifically, 25% of bettors reckon that the final score will be 2-1, with England taking the victory.

So far, prior to the finals taking place, a total of £3.6m ($4.6m) in bets have been placed on the England team.

This makes the Lionesses the team to receive the most amount of bets from the UK customer base.

Should the team lift the trophy on Sunday, Flutter is set to pay out over £800k, with the company anticipating this to rise up to over £1m with the weekend betting taken into account.

Not only that, but the team’s striker, Alessia Russo, is on 30% of all anytime-scorer selections.

Along with Lauren Hemp and Lauren James, Russo has scored three goals so far this World Cup and is one of the highest-ranking when it comes to shots on goal.

Coincidentally, three women on the Spanish team are also sitting on three goals so far; Aitana Bonmatí, Jennifer Hermoso and Alba Redondo.
